milk, teeth, and motion

hiya, mr. man!

wow, so it's been a big couple weeks for you. you are now rolling with a little more purpose. you have figured out how to use your right arm and leg to propel yourself over even though your left arm is all crunched up under you. i've tried straightening your arms either over your head or by your side, and then showing you how to roll by pushing on your opposite foot (you are on your tummy when i'm doing this)...it's not getting across. you've got your own method :-) you've also started really getting your knees up under you and putting your butt in the air...this results in an inchworm move...you scoot around doing this, though i know your goal isn't to move forward...it's to get off your tummy :-)

your two center bottom teeth are finally through! you are sleeping better and are less agitated. i'm incredibly happy for you and sad for my knuckles. those suckers are SHARP.

we've been feeding you an elemental milk-based formula called alimentum for a few weeks now. it slowly became apparent that soy formula just wasn't working for you...it prevented you from being able to make any dirty diapers. even the baby laxative, lactulose, didn't help you. so, we put you on alimentum, and TADA...your tummy works! the only drawback is that this formula costs a fortune. so starting this past weekend, i started doing a milk challenge with you. i've begun introducing a partially broken down milk formula little bits at a time. so far, you're handling it well. you are up to 1.5 oz of the milk formula with 4 to 5 oz of alimentum. this weekend, i will move you up to 2 oz of milk formula per bottle. i will keep you at 2 for a while since that comprises nearly half of each of your meals...prolly for at least a week. i'm hoping by the time you turn 6 months, we will have you completely switched to the partially broken down milk formula. target makes its own version of this formula, and it's much less expensive than the name brand version of the same formula, and it's about 1/3 as expensive as the alimentum.

blast the damned broken boobies! that's a sad tale for another day.

i love you, buddy! i love watching you grow and change and thrive!
