slow on the uptake

well, buddy, your 'rents are scoring the award for the most obtuse right about now. it's a long story, but it's finally dawned on us that you are so agitated/fussy/not sleeping/not eating b/c your reflux has reared its ugly head again.

you have gotten REALLY good at not swallowing your meds/spitting them out. it's a 15-minute challenge to get you to take your meds these days, and it's been difficult if not impossible to figure out how much you're losing and/or need to have replaced. well, the lack of meds in your system is resulting in a HUGE regression. you are almost back where you were at 7 weeks. you cry/need to be held most of the time. you arch and pull off the bottle 2 oz into a feeding. you refuse the bottle after a burp. you are wheezing, coughing, and congested again. and, worst of all, you are gagging and choking again. we had chalked off the last 5 symptoms to the onset of a cold...5 days ago. said cold never showed up. you would think we would have noticed this. nope. obtuse is the word of the day, dude!

we are very sorry sweet little man. we are working hard to get you back on track, though it's going to KILL me to have to do the things i am going to have to do to make you take your meds. i am having to pinch your cheeks AND your nose to get you to swallow the meds. this sucks some serious, serious ass buddy...more for you than for me. maybe. you are over it in about 30 seconds while my heart is still pounding and i'm trying not to cry.

in good news, you are still pretty gigantic. it's a good thing we moved you out of your infant seat and into your convertible last week. you are 29.5 inches tall. your weight gain is slowing...you are at 19 pounds 7 oz...1 lb and 2 oz larger than you were at 5 mo. i am thinking you might have lost or slowed down in the last few weeks with all the not sleeping and not eating stuff. we'll see how you're doing at your next check with the pedi GI in a month. your head circumference is right on target with previous growth. you are just BIG. sissy was your height at about a year. crazy...it's crazy! you are full on into your 12 m clothes, and some of those are too short in the torso.

i love you, buddy. and, i am so sorry i didn't realize what was happening to you sooner so that i could prevent you feeling so rotten. i also am VERY sorry for what i'm going to have to do to you from here on out to get you to take your meds. :-(
