oh, there is so much to catch up on! the last couple weeks have been NUTS. you are on the move in a big, big way these days. we've been trying out two nick names on you...quinnado and quinn kong. you love to make a mess, and you can get from point A to point B FAST these days, so your messes are large and spread out...kinda like with a tornado or after king kong has stomped through a city ;-p
you are very curious. you like to inspect and analyze EVERYTHING in your environment, and you especially love the challenge of a new environment. you and i took sissy for a hearing test last week, and you were so excited to explore your surroundings during that test. unfortunately, the audiologist that was seeing sissy was super cranky and made several rude comments about you...including telling me that i should think about putting you on a leash. sheesh! i was respectful of the office property and kept you from actually getting into anything and from being noisy, but that apparently was not enough of an effort for dr. cranky pants. they actually told me not to bring you the next time i take sissy for a hearing test!!! who could NOT want you around?!?! i cannot fathom this! okay...i guess it makes sense that sissy and the dr. can focus better when not distracted by your adorableness ;-p
this week has been pretty rough. we did have a nice weekend and some fun with friends, but things got hectic fast. on tuesday night, i served you your dinner without thinking about or testing the temperature of it first. you got burned when you tried to eat the sweet potato casserole i gave you. i acted fast and got you into a cold shower immediately, which helped tremendously, but you do have a blister on the pinky of your right hand. you are having trouble sleeping at night b/c you like to sleep with your hands underneath your body, which puts a lot of pressure on that sore hand. i cannot tell you how sorry i am to have been so careless and to have caused you so much pain. you and i are running on very little sleep now for 3 days and counting (you are in a growth spurt, so you had been up a lot the night before the sweet potato incident, too). i am so tired that i am shaking. i wish i could crawl into your crib and nap right next to you :-) fortunately, you have been napping pretty well and playing well when you are awake. it appears that your hand bothers you only after several hours of sleeping on top of it (only!
i will keep telling myself that "this, too, shall pass.", and i will continue to hope that your hand heals quickly.
i love you, buddy.
